Facebook and Memes

I used to own or admin several large meme-dedicated groups, such as:

A Discord with 600 people, a Facebook Group with 20k members, 

and a Facebook Page which averaged 100 likes per post. 

I've mostly moved away from these hobbies to focus more on my writing.

Isn't Fine Point a character in Equa who's an evil slave trafficker? Why the heck would that be the mascot, your profile picture, and even your username? Doesn't that make you feel weird identifying with such a terrible person?

Well, my friend, it's sort of a long story, and no it doesn't. Every author has to write villains, and many become popular enough for fans: just look at the Joker from DC! He's a terrible, terrible, person- but people love him! Fine Point was my first OC, and remains my favorite character in the same way as people can have the Joker be their favorite character. I don't endorse his actions in any way, I merely enjoy him as fiction, and like to write about him. If you are unable to differentiate between real life and fiction, then you should probably see a psychiatrist.

Okay, okay... but that still doesn't explain why you literally identify as him online. Isn't it weird to literally be referred to as Fine Point, one of your characters?

That's where it gets a little complicated. See, Fine Point was my first OC, which means at the very beginning he functioned as my ponysona. He existed merely as pony version of myself, an avatar to use on Amino where I was, for a while, a popular writer. He wasn't even called Fine Point back then, I just called him my own name. I wouldn't begin to develop my OCs into proper narratives until much later, and so for the longest time this pony and I were the same thing. His dark and edgy backstory first developed when I was very depressed, and going through dark times. His behavior and downfalls were exaggerated metaphors for how I felt at the time, and this manifested in some dark stories. I had a lot of art from fans and from requests back in those days, and Fine Point became part of my identity. A part that I didn't have the heart to abandon. So, for now, there's two Fine Points: the character, and the person. They're very different!
