Background: At a very young age, Sapphire killed a classmate with a pencil over a dispute regarding lunch seats. After extensive therapy, she was determined to suffer from Antisocial Personality Disorder, and institutionalized. Despite the therapist's efforts, she never truly grasped empathy the way they wanted her to, Sapphire claims this is because they never viewed her as a pony, but a dangerous object. Bloom found her at the asylum where she grew up, and sympathized with her. Rather than lock her away "like an animal", she found a way to utilize her natural talents, and even taught her basic empathy through a loving approach, knowing even if Sapphire had an outburst she could not harm her. Now she operates as a freelance mercenary, though by choice almost exclusively accepts contracts from Hera.
